Julia Restoin-Roitfeld At AmfAR

Despite blizzard conditions in New York City, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and other stars braved the cold to celebrate the amfAR Annual New York Gala. Julia is wearing Richard Nicoll pictured above with Yves Carcelle, CEO of Louis Vuitton, who was honored last night. Among the notable guests were Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia, Margherita Missoni, Heidi Klum, Stanley Tucci, Cynthia Nixon, Karolina Kurkova, Maggie Rizer, Vanessa Redgrave, Chloe Sevigny, Zoe Saldana, Meryl Streep, and Julia Stiles. Lady Gaga provided the entertainment for the evening while wearing white body paint, a white bikini, and pearls with no string.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld In The Selby Book

Remember last spring when Julia Restoin-Roitfeld graciously opened up her home to photographer Todd Selby and gave all of us a lovely glimpse of her life? We got to see the beauty products that Julia prefers, the unique jewelry that she collects such as the gorgeous pieces by Tom Binns, Alexis Bittar, Pamela Love, and Czarina, her mindblowing shoe closet, including sexy stunners designed by Brian Atwood, her toys, even her well tended orchids. Now we can see all of this and more in hardcover format: The Selby Is in Your Place collects the cool portraits Todd Selby has amassed into one dynamic book due to publish the first of May. I cannot wait to own a copy. As an added bonus, some of the portraits have never been seen before! Now if only there were photographs of Vladimir's apartment to complete the collection...

p.s. If you visit The Selby regularly you may enjoy the Question & Answer section at the bottom of each profile complete with illustrations by the subjects. For some reason, Julia's Q&A was not posted originally but it is now and of course it is très adorable including a priceless sketch of Brigitte Bardot.

Julia In Chains

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld was captured on film by photographer (and former beau) Magnus Berger in a surrealistic portrait that he titled "Julia In Chains." The work effectively blurs the lines between art and fashion, transcending clichés to create a memorable composition. Multiple images have been layered to make Julia appear to fade into the sepia tinted shadows and the intensity of her eyes sharpens the contrast. Julia is wearing the gold chains from Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2008 ready-to-wear collection.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld For Miu Miu

In keeping with the theme of vintage content that has pervaded the site of late, here is a beauty from the archives: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld in Miu Miu for Spring 2008. The campaign was shot by Marc Segal and styled by Elizabeth Sulcer. The harlequin as harlot concept for the campaign is fantastic and Julia transmits as gothic. I love the mysterious quality of the light in these photos, it looks exactly as if Julia is about to step Through the Looking Glass...

Restoin-Roitfeld Hosts Haiti Benefit

More excellent fundraising work by the Roitfeld family: fashionistas in New York City are uniting to provide support to those left in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is lending a helping hand. Julia, along with Narciso Rodriguez, Cynthia Rowley, and others, will host an American Red Cross fundraiser at the Thom Bar in Soho. Teen Vogue and The Misshapes will host another Haiti benefit at the Soho Grand Hotel. If you are in the New York area, please stop by and show your support for this country in need.

Outstanding support for Haiti has come from other generous sources. Sandra Bullock donated $1,000,000 to Doctors Without Borders to rebuild three of the hospitals destroyed by the earthquake in Port-Au-Prince; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie just gave them another $1,000,000. The tennis stars at this year's Australian Open raised more than $185,000 to benefit the earthquake victims in a special exhibition event dubbed "Hit for Haiti." Oh yes, and the superhero trifecta of presidents is on the case as well heading up a major fundraising effort for Haiti, sounds promising...
