Agent Provocateur

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is pictured here enjoying summer in her favorite bikini from Agent Provocateur. The red and white checked gingham accents make this two piece bathing suit innocent and adorable, perfectly suited to Julia. The gold pendant that she is wearing is designed by her close friend Pamela Love. She looks so spunky here and ready to dance, perhaps Julia is listening to her favorite "Summer Mix Tape"...

Agent Provocateur is based in the United Kingdom and its sexy boutiques span cities across the world: Paris, London, New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Vienna, Berlin, and more. The first Agent Provocateur store opened in London's Soho district in 1994. If you have not had the pleasure of visiting yet, I suggest you stop into your nearest Agent Provocateur to look around at your next opportunity. If fitting, take the time to be measured for a bra... you may be pleasantly surprised with your results.

Note that the fitting does not actually involve snakes or knives, I am just smitten with this photo. As we would expect, Agent Provocateur also wields a very sexy ad campaign. I wonder if the AP creative team is aware that Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld models and art directs, I can sense a real synergy there...

Ganesha

When in Ibiza on holiday, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld always takes time to stop at Ganesha, a vintage shop owned by Vicente Hernández that is filled with treasures rumored to rival those in Aladdin's cave. Reportedly "a kind hearted grey whiskered character [with] more than an eye when it comes to shapely figures and bright Latin color," Hernández travels to South America regularly to find new merchandise for the shop making it the hot spot in Ibiza to discover funky vintage jewelry, sunglasses, bags, clothing, furniture, and more. Located at Calle Guillem de Montgri 14 in Ibiza Town, this magical little boutique consistently attracts famous visitors such as Kate Moss, Jade Jagger, and Elle Macpherson. Note as well that Ganesha is esteemed as Ibiza Town's oldest shop, a tribute to Vicente's eye for goodness.

What are a few of Julia's favorite finds at Ganesha? She is wearing two of her treasures in the photographs seen here. While shopping at Ganesha in the summer of 2008, Julia scored the romantic white dress she wears above, the perfect lightweight accompaniment to the season. Another stroke of luck while shopping at Vicente's place — the gorgeous sequined dress we see to the right, a sparkling relic from the days of cabaret. Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld remarks, "I bought this cabaret dress... in Ibiza in the summer of 2006. I saw it in the window, tried it on and it fit me perfectly! It was meant to be. I've only worn it once and it was photographed a lot. It's one of those pieces I can wear at home, for my own pleasure, or I could just frame and hang on the wall." Spoken like a true Roitfeld...

Borage Oil

When asked the secret to her gorgeous tresses, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld confided that she rubs borage oil into her hair to nourish it and also takes the oil internally in capsule form by Solaire. As Julia says, "My own trick is to protect it with some borage oil. It is the best nourishing oil. I also take borage as pills in the morning and put some on my skin after being exposed under the sun." If you heed only one piece of advice from my site make it this one: begin using borage oil today and you will look and feel better inside and out.

The oil is pressed from the borage, or starflower, a delicate blue flower native to the Mediterranean region and parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. Not only will your hair shine as a result: borage is the plant with the highest concentration of gamma linolenic acid (GLA), the only omega-6 fatty acid known to stop the growth and metastasis of tumors. Borage has also been proven to metabolize bad fat, reduce inflammation, ease cramping and mood swings associated with PMS, promote healthy circulation, and even help with impotence. Borage — the wonder oil!

Please note that unusually high levels of borage oil taken internally may be toxic and can be especially dangerous if you have existing liver problems. I have been taking ¼ teaspoon of Borage Liquid Gold daily for two weeks and also rubbing it into the ends of my hair from time to time and I have noticed a definite improvement in the texture of my hair and skin. Try it and let me know what you think...

Jil By Jil Sander

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld stars in the recent advertising campaign for Jil, the signature fragrance of Jil Sander. She is a perfect face for the scent. In Julia's words, "I feel that I am a new generation Jil Sander woman; strong, independent, and hard working... The Jil Sander woman is tough and confident, but also has a soft, feminine side. That's how I feel sometimes... I am really very, very proud to be the new face of fragrance."

Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld enjoys wearing Jil as well as modeling the luxury product: "It reminds me kind of when I mix two scents together which makes my perfume more unique... At first scent it is strong and then it evaporates and smells lighter, very feminine too. It has flowers and amber at the end. It is like a subtlety of a woman who seems very tough and confident but is actually very feminine and fragile."

Watch Julia in the campaign for Jil on YouTube, there is also a longer multilingual video from behind the scenes.

Gorillaz

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is one of the millions of Gorillaz fans worldwide but if you peek at her record collection, you may notice that she actually likes Damon Albarn in various incarnations. The stack of discs on her floor includes not just Demon Days by Gorillaz but The Early Years by Blur (whom Albarn fronted) and the soundtrack from the film Trainspotting which includes both "Sing" by Blur and "Closet Romantic," a solo number by Albarn. Nice taste, Julia!

Gorillaz was formed by Albarn and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett and includes an evolving mix of talent; I consider them one of the archetypal groups of this era. Taking the best of rock, electronic, hip hop, and dub and making music greater than the sum of its parts, Gorillaz has just released their third studio album, Plastic Beach. Featuring everyone from Snoop Dogg to The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, I think PB is even better than Demon Days which you should note is one of my ten favorite albums. Check out the video for the song "Stylo" if you have not seen it yet... it is like a cool little film set to the perfect soundtrack but running only 5.40, j'adore le génie.
