Julia Restoin-Roitfeld For Lancome

The first advertisement from the Lancôme campaign featuring Julia Restoin-Roitfeld appears above and she looks gorgeous. Julia is the face for Lancôme's new makeup collection for Spring 2011 titled Ultra Lavande and ultra lavender it is! Coincidentally, the campaign was photographed by her godfather, Mario Testino. Julia follows in the footsteps of women like Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, and Julia Roberts, all of whom have represented the brand previously. Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld will also front a Lancôme campaign planned for Asia to advertise their forthcoming Blanc Expert line of products.

The woman is gorgeous, but this ad doesn't do it for me.

Bisous!

So a pussy bow blouse in purple silk strikes your fancy, eh, Cupcake? I am sure you would be lovely in it.

Absolutely, Fashión! xx

Julius, aka the voice of reason, you make me laugh! It is a miracle of Photoshop. Oh does a cup of tea sound delightful right now! If you decide to assume a new name, just make sure that I know it is you...

Bonjour, Le Choix ! Is it the purpleness of it?!

; )

It is, Caro, Julia's very bone structure hardly looks like her own here!

I don't get the essence of her here. Yes, a pretty face. But like some others have commented--a little too retouched & done. Oh well, that's to be expected of a Lancome ad!

She has very beautiful face, she looks as someone who barely needs any make up . Why did they to retouching?
4 novembre 2010 | Unregistered Commentermaya
Right on all counts, Kate! They seemed to have rubbed out a bit of Julia's essence with their handiwork, the pretty one does not need retouching. But if Lancôme were to champion natural beauty, it would defeat their company mission!

It is true, Maya, and it is a shame they chose to tamper with Julia's beauty.

Funny, but I prefer the extra digital version. It has an animated quality to it that's appealing. I'm not in the least surprised at the airbrushing, expect nothing less these days.

Oh no, what have Lancôme done to the naturally beautiful Julia? An amazing brand + such a stunning woman should have resulted in a campaign that would have us all rushing to the beauty counters. Instead, I'm suddenly very afraid of anything purple!
8 novembre 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMilla
Cupcake, the airbrushed version certainly gets my attention with the intensity of the colors but I am not sure which I prefer. You are right, it is to be expected in the digital era.
8 novembre 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina
LOL, Milla, do not fear the purple! Just the airbrushing. x

She is stunning and the colour works really well on her. I think the second image is definitely better......

She's so beautiful! And I really want the lavender polish from this collection!..
10 novembre 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAntonia
I agree with both points, Red Umbrella Chronicles, this is a great color on Julia. While I do like the vividness of the first image, the tones in the second are just so flattering that I cannot help but prefer it.

Antonia, I LOVE your name! Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you get the polish. If so let us know how you like it...
