Carine Roitfeld Celebrates Schiaparelli X Lacroix

Christian Lacroix saluted the style of the legendary Elsa Schiaparelli with an original collection of eighteen designs he called "A Tale of Love for Elsa" for the Fall 2013 Couture collection. Carine Roitfeld showed her support, pictured here with Riccardo Tisci at the cocktail party hosted by Lacroix at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Also among the guests admiring the new Schiaparelli collection were Emmanuelle Alt, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Jacques Grange, Azzedine Alaïa, Steven Jones, Victoire de Castellane, Franca Sozzani, Peter Dundas, Jefferson Hack, Catherine Baba, Giambattista Valli, Ellen von Unwerth, and Christian Louboutin.

Roitfeld In De Pury Collection

Although he has recently made his home in London, Simon de Pury's chic Parisian pied-à-terre appeared in New Paris Interiors and, while browsing the book recently, I was delighted to see that he collects the work of Carine Roitfeld. As one of the world's most successful auctioneers, de Pury has taken the opportunity to amass an impressive collection of art, furniture, and artifacts that includes pieces by Pablo Picasso, Takashi Murakami, Ron Arad, George Condo, Ai Weiwei, Os Gêmeos, and Juergen Teller, among many others.

Above the dining table and chairs designed especially for him by Franz West, de Pury has chosen to hang the work of one of my favorite artistic collaborations — Carine Roitfeld and Mario Testino. Their piercing image of Eva Herzigova fondling her blade, clad in a white Valentino top that is shielded from the blood by a butcher's apron, must certainly lead to interesting conversations over dinner. The image was published originally in the provocative editorial titled "The Butcher" which Roitfeld and Testino created for The Face in 1997. Suffice to say, Simon de Pury is a man of rare taste.

Carine Roitfeld: Vision Accomplished

There is no end to Carine Roitfeld's drive; in her latest venture with Mercedes-Benz, she acts as both creative director and fashion designer for “Vision Accomplished: Fashion Film Spring/Summer 2014.″ Teaming with stylist Stephen Gan, photographers Max von Gumppenberg and Patrick Bienert, and model Sui He, Carine lends her exquisite eye to the luxury brand to envision quite the seductive setting for their new S-Class. Sui He revs up the action in a Little Black Dress designed by Carine Roitfeld accompanied by pumps adorned with the Mercedes-Benz hood ornament made especially for the shoot by Gianvito Rossi. When asked about the inspiration for her first design, Carine shared: "This dress has a perfect knee-length, it's a perfect sweater, it's black — something you can keep forever, but with a bit of a sensual look, because it very closely follows her whole body. It's very sculptural in a simple way — exactly like the car. I think this car is very sober, chic, and very expensive looking, so I was aiming to design something exactly the same for Sui He." We can only hope this amazing creation heralds the beginning of CR's fashion line, and, if so, permit me to say — put the pedal to the metal, girl!
