Roitfelds At New York Fashion Week: Wild, Tough, Money

I have so many tidbits about the Roitfelds at New York Fashion Week for you! First, clearly, we see Carine Roitfeld enjoying her freedom from the bonds of Vogue Paris, errr, dancing in her booth at Indochine following her son Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld's New York premier of RETNA. Carine is joined by makeup artist Tom Pecheux, not sure who they are beckoning to join them sur la banquette... lucky soul...

Next up, Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld walks us through a week from his wardrobe by way of "SoHo Gallery? Black, of Course" in The New York Times. He certainly does wear a lot of black and like his mother he tends to repeat the same pieces. Poor Vlad had an unlucky week — in a mere seven days, he ruined a pair of black Dior jeans while meeting with artist José Parlá and then fell ill with a sinus infection just in time for his mother's amfAR gala benefit and his own RETNA opening the following day. But Vladimir is a trooper and he was there to make sure the show went on despite his illness. He even managed to hold down a booth at Indochine afterwards. Only to meet with another stroke of bad luck: Vlad mentioned to Swide Magazine that he and Giovanna Battaglia could not be together for their second Valentine's Day as a couple, "Her grandmother is very sick at the moment so she has to stay with her family." At least RETNA's works are selling at upwards of $30,000 apiece, hang tough, Vlad!

Both Vladimir and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld attended the party that V Man held to celebrate their Kanye West cover at which it literally rained money. Approximately $5,000 in real money and untold amounts of fake cash showered party guests on the dance floor of new hot spot Mondrian Soho including Kanye West, Keri Hilson, Alexander Wang, Harley Viera-Newton, Bryanboy, Vera Wang, Sean Lennon, Sean Avery, Zoe Kravitz, Prabal Gurung, Leigh Lezark, Brad Goreski, and Richard Chai. The Roitfelds At amfAR

Derek Blasberg nominated Carine Roitfeld and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld as the best dressed couple at amfAR and I must say that I agree with his discerning taste. The amfAR Annual New York Gala at Cipriani Wall Street marks the beginning of Fashion Week and as one of the chairs for the event, Carine was there to celebrate looking angelic in white Givenchy couture. Julia was equally gorgeous in a smoldering black dress by Louis Vuitton. Bill Clinton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diane von Furstenberg were the celebrities honored by the black-tie benefit. Other notable guests include Chelsea Clinton and new husband Marc Mezvinsky, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Donna Karan, Stefano Tonchi, Helena Christensen, Carol Alt, Iman, Karen Elson, Julianna Marguiles, Olivier Theyskens, and Blake Lively.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is certainly being good to us... yesterday a ménage à trois with her devastatingly handsome beau, Robert Konjic; today the sexy couple favors us by sharing a passionate round of roleplaying. Not sure you will feel as strongly, but I just spent eight of the best minutes of my life....

Remember that puzzling photo I posted a few months ago, "Julia Restoin-Roitfeld In Abed Mahfouz"? I finally discovered the background story: she and Robert were making a short fashion film, The Crush, for XXXX Magazine as directed by Indira Cesarine and it is breathtaking. Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld plays the part of a glamorous socialite (imagine) while Monsieur Konjic acts in the role of her lustful chauffeur. Mostly JRR prances around in one gorgeous gown after another with RK chasing her, c'est fantastique. Amusez-vous bien...

Ménage À Trois À La Roitfeld And Konjic

Hurrah! — the perfect passe-temps for a Friday afternoon: the London Evening Standard features an engaging article titled "A menage a trois with Julia Restoin Roitfeld and Robert Konjic" and it is hot! I absolutely love the way the reporter captured the couple's conversational rhythm, très très adorable. They disclose in detail the story of how they met and discuss their future — babies! Here are my favorite bits:

Julia says, "Last year he [Robert] called me on our anniversary, saying, 'Look inside your wardrobe.' " He'd hidden a present in it before he left — a stingray leather jewellery box. "He was lucky I hadn't already found it, because I organise my wardrobe weekly."

Robert asks, "What was the advice for posing that your mum used to give you and your brother? Chin down…"

"Angry eyes, big lips!" says Julia. "When I was shooting the Black Orchid commercial for Tom Ford, they suggested I should blow a little through my lips, like Kate Moss does."

Julia reflects, "Carine would frequently ask the family for editorial advice. 'She would come home with two or three collages and, it's funny, we would always agree with her and want the less commercial choice when perhaps people at the magazine would want the other one.'"

R: Shall we go to the Armani party tonight?
J: Shall we stay home and watch Glee?
