Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

How does Julia Restoin-Roitfeld maintain her beautiful skin? "I use lots of moisturizer — La Prairie Skin Caviar," responds Julia, "For everyday I prefer to go for a more natural look. I never wear foundation, just a bit of Yves Saint Laurent Touch Éclat concealer and some Shiseido Blush Stick on my cheeks. I use a lot of mascara and Chanel Ligne Extreme eyeliner in Encre Noire, and on my lips, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream." When I first read this, I was surprised, why would Julia use face cream on her lips? This product is widely used by discerning makeup artists and top models in addition to Julia's endorsement so I decided to investigate.

I understood the attraction once I saw the list of ingredients in Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. The active ingredients in the product include lanolin, vitamin E, and salicylic acid along with mineral oil, castor oil, corn oil, propylparaben, and iron oxides added to the base, 56.8% petrolatum. Lanolin is a rich source of cholesterol, an important skin lipid containing alpha hydroxy acids, derived from wool that protects against the effects of the environment. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals and prevent oxidation; it can also work to remedy skin discoloration. Salicylic acid is arguably best known as an anti-acne treatment that induces skin cells to shed more rapidly, opens pores, neutralizes bacteria, and enhances cell growth.

Devoted fans have found myriad uses for Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream: apply as a lip treatment before bed for better moisturizing and absorption than petroleum jelly; banish dry patches on hands, elbows, knees, and feet; soften cuticles and hangnails; highlight cheekbones to catch the light in a natural way (models swear by it) or mix with eye shadow for better coverage; groom your eyebrows with a small amount to tame them; reduce split ends, frizz, and static by applying sparingly to hair; soothe minor abrasions, irritations, scrapes, burns, and even insect bites with its anti-inflammatory benefits. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream — a true classic in skin care.

Hi Kellina! Shortly after I read this I found the 8 Hour Cream at my favorite Marshalls for $9.99. Score! As a sufferer of chapped lips this product is the Holy Grail of lip treatments. I can finally wear matte lipsticks.

Louis, thank you for your ringing endorsement! It is nice to hear from a professional such as yourself that this product really works as described. I will be buying it now, due to your influence!

OMG are you crazy!! this is a tube of petroleum (the bi-product /sludge from making petrol - the stuff you put in your car!!) and parabens (the preservatives linked to breast cancer).

Petroleum leaves a layer of gunk on the top of your skin, making it unable to breathe and ultimately drying it out. This means you have to apply more and more of the product in what becomes a vicious cycle, but also a win-win situation for anyone selling it, especially as it is so cheap for big companies to buy. Any product which contains it should not be put anywhere near the skin. Mineral oil is basically the same and should also be avoided, in my opinion.

I found it at TJ Maxx for $7. An entire gift set! It includes the 8 Hour Cream and two lip tins with the 8 Hour Lip Protectant. They also had just the 8 Hour Cream for around the same price. It's not the unscented version, but it works.

I knew there was something wrong when I asked the girl at the E.A counter for a list of key ingredients. She didnt know. So here I am after trying the "balm" and tasted the petrolium. All it is is an expensive tube of vaseline. This is so badfor yoyr skin. I asked her about the expensive serum they claim has the same ingredient the japanese use to move live organs. I now wonder what this actually is! Is it of animal source? By the way lanolin is the sebum from dead sheep. Really bad for your skin long term.
