Roitfeld At Gucci Icon Temporary Opening

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Robert Konjic attended the Gucci Icon Temporary store opening together last night in Covent Garden in London and it looks as if they are one very happy couple. Monsieur Konjic served as the face for Gucci for his first modeling gig so naturally he and Julia were on hand to celebrate. The photo shown here is taken at the Gucci afterparty hosted by Jefferson Hack at Ronnie Scott's.

Trainer enthusiast Mark Ronson teamed up with Frida Giannini of Gucci to produce a limited edition line of shoes for the pop-up shop. About the collection, Ronson stated, "I spent many years as an avid sneaker collector so I wanted to make sure these shoes were truly special, both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectible one." Giannini says, "From the moment Mark and I started talking about this project, we connected. He has a great eye for design and an amazing knowledge of sneaker history. He is an artist whose influence is cross-cultural and cross-generational."

Other guests included Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes who stood in with Ronson's band, Chauffeur, Tolula Adeyemi, Jonny Borrell, Jamie Campbell-Bower, Dominic Cooper, Poppy Delevigne, Bryan Ferry, Sophia Hesketh, Pam Hogg, Ben Hudson, Yasmin Le Bon, Anouck Lepere, Leigh Lezark, Suzy Menkes, Savannah Miller, Amy Molyneux, Geordon Nicol, Rifat Ozbek, Percy Parker, Margo Stilley, and Bonnie Wright. The first Gucci Icon Temporary store launched in New York last October and then migrated to Miami in December; after London the shop will travel to Tokyo in June.

Review: Classy By Derek Blasberg

My friend Kate Ringo Suzuki from the blog Everyday Glamour has kindly agreed to serve as the first guest columnist for I Want To Be A Roitfeld and we are thrilled to welcome her witty words of wisdom to these pages. Kate has reviewed Derek Blasberg's new book Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady for all of us to enjoy. Merci mille fois, Kate!

Everyday Glamour Book Review: Classy
By Kate Ringo Suzuki

Etiquette books are for sissiphants who wear twin sets and sensible shoes and sit around crocheting pot holders. Or so I thought. Enter small town Midwestern boy turned Big Apple fashion journalist, Derek Blasberg, author of Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady. Mr. Blasberg has a bone to pick with all you fabulous young ladies out there who have trouble differentiating between what’s sexy and what’s skanky. Oh yeah. You see, he’s a sensible guy, (coming from Missouri and all), who has had the lucky opportunity to not only travel the globe but also attend some pretty amazing parties in the New York fashion, art, and social scenes.

Mr. Blasberg has seen some class acts and he’s also seen some trampy vamps. It truly annoys him that the tramps have been getting the spotlight lately. I mean, hello! Britney Spears, I’m talking to you, put on some panties and learn how to exit a car properly! With role models like sweet Britney (and more) how can an Everyday Glamour Chick (E.G.C.) be expected to know how to have appeal without resorting to exposing her nether regions?

Look no further, E.G.C.s! Classy is a user-friendly style and etiquette book that can turn any skank into a sophisticated, alluring, well-rounded, and classy young lady. Chapters are set up like magazine articles, replete with charts, illustrations, snazzy quotes, and best of all, before and after pictures. After pictures get the “Yes: That’s Classy!” seal of approval, while the before pictures get the “No! Tramp Stamp.” badge. And it also doesn’t hurt that the book itself fits neatly into most handbags — for easy reading wherever you go!

So remember, E.G.C.s, being nice and polite doesn’t mean you’re a stick in the mud, dressing like a blow-up doll isn’t the only way to get attention, using your “inside voice” can be more powerful than a dozen screaming skanks, and being well-rounded has nothing to do with your proportions! Classy, by Derek Blasberg, gets the Everyday Glamour stamp of approval!

Vogue Paris May 2010 Editorials

The Vogue Paris web site offers a taste of what is to come in the editorials for the May 2010 issue. First we see the striking "Paradis En Chine," the military vision of Carine Roitfeld starring Vanessa Paradis as captured by Karl Lagerfeld. Next is "Erotica," a sexy haute couture tribute to Alexander McQueen in which Roitfeld poses her son Vladimir's former love interest Lily Donaldson with Steven Klein behind the camera. Carine also styled the breathtaking "La Décadanse" with top model Daria Werbowy and Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli playing the parts of France's iconic couple, Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg; Mario Testino caught the magic on film. Finally is the pin-up seduction of "Plage Privée" featuring Natasha Poly as styled by Emmanuelle Alt and photographed by Mario Sorrenti. Available on newsstands April 23, it looks to be another fabulous issue.

Texting Carine Roitfeld

Thanks to her zoom lens, Caroline Blomst captured Carine Roitfeld receiving a text on her Blackberry and you can see from the tiny image that it is her son Vladimir. Clearly whatever he had to say was important because several more frames are shot and Carine hardly glances at the camera, instead focusing intensely on her Blackberry. Emmanuelle Alt also appears in many of the frames standing directly to the right of Carine. The photographs were taken following the Bottega Veneta show as part of Milan Fashion Week.
