Vogue Paris Translation: Editorial, February 2010

Below is my translation from French to English of Carine Roitfeld's editorial for the February issue of Vogue Paris:

Qu'attend-on de Vogue en priorité ? Qu'il guide ses lectrices sur le terrain de la mode et offre une vision claire et personnelle de ce qui fait le sel de la saison. Mission accomplie avec ce spécial total looks mis en scène à partir des coups de cœur de la rédaction lors des derniers défilés printemps-été. Casual, soir, sobre, éclatant, sexy, sage, monochrome ou colorama hurlant... toutes les options séduction sont au générique. Il a électrisé la mode des années 90 et 2000, ‹‹Wonderboy›› du style, avant de s'éclipser au sommet de sa gloire. Tom Ford est de retour, mais sur grand écran. Son premier film en tant que réalisateur, "A Single Man", est l'un des événements les plus attendus de ce début d'année. What is the first priority of Vogue? To guide readers in the field of fashion and to offer a clear and personal vision of the salt of the season. Mission accomplished with these special total looks staging the editors' favorites from the latest spring-summer shows. Casual, evening, sober, bright, sexy, wise, monochrome or a screaming colorama... all the seduction options are generic. He electrified fashion from the years 1990 to 2000, the "Wonderboy" of style, before disappearing at the height of his glory. Tom Ford is back, but on the big screen. His first film as director, A Single Man, is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Restoin-Roitfeld Shows Hambleton In Milan

Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld opens his second exhibit in conjunction with artist Richard Hambleton tonight in collaboration with Andy Valmorbida and Giorgio Armani as part of Milan Fashion Week. This occasion marks the first time that the painter has shown solo in Europe since 1985. The exhibition comprises 45 works, 15 previously unseen, and runs from March 1 – 12 at the Armani/Teatro. Only 30 of the pieces are for sale. At the first show that Vladimir and friends curated for him, "Richard Hambleton—New York," all of the art sold within a few hours; hopefully the Milan show will be a smashing success as well. Watch as Hambleton discusses his evolution as an artist in an interview with CNN.

Carine Roitfeld In Ohne Titel

Special thanks to Blade for graciously permitting me to share his superb photograph taken at New York Fashion Week in which Carine Roitfeld appears to be painted against the Manhattan skyline as she enters Bryant Park for one of the last times. That Ohne Titel fur coat looks to have been made just for her and j'adore how she has chosen to belt it. Comparing it with this photograph taken the same day from the back, I do believe it is the belt from Alexander McQueen's collection that I desire. La Roitfeld, you are indeed the queen of chic.

Giovanna Battaglia Straight From The Hip

Sarah Mower penned an article titled "Straight From The Hip" for the March issue of Vogue US and Giovanna Battaglia is among the illustrative subjects. Mower theorizes that "a new crop of models and fashion professionals are influencing designers and the public with their distinctive personal style" and naturally Gio made her list. Each model styled herself for the shoot and Giovanna chose a button down shirt by Chloé in classic white and a wraparound skirt by Proenza Schouler in electrifying hues of blue. Tabitha Simmons styled the editorial with Norman Jean Roy shooting, other models selected were Lily Donaldson, Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, Sasha Pivovarova, Lauren Santo Domingo [pictured here with Giovanna also wearing Proenza Schouler paired with a jacket by Dolce & Gabbana], Jessica Stam, Vanessa Traina, and Daria Werbowy.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld At Unique

Posing here outside the Unique show at London Fashion Week, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld looks outrageously sexy wearing leather shorts by Current/Elliott. I love how she manages to appear at once classic, modern, and seductive. I enjoy the Dickensian feeling of the shorts paired with booties keeping it monochromatic to elongate, bien sûr. The overcoat and scarf add to the spirit of Dickens while also serving to visually lengthen the figure.
