Carine Roitfeld X M.A.C.

According to Vogue Brazil, Carine Roitfeld and M.A.C. will release a collection of twenty products for Winter 2012. Best of all, several of the products focus on the eyes and brows, designed especially to enable all of us to recreate La Roitfeld's iconic smoky eye, oooo la la ! Carine is pictured here in the first image from the campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti. If you look closely, you can see the Good Luck Star from the collection, a star shaped stencil just beneath Carine's eye.

That's just how I look when I wake up in the morning.

Seriously, this is exciting & I'm sure I will be spending way too much of my disposable income buying all these MAC products when they come out.

I'm disappointed seeing how photoshopped the picture is. I thought she had enough coolness to be herself no matter what. I'm 28 by the way.

Maya, perhaps M.A.C. insisted, I really don't know...

Yeah, i know. But Carine is a stylist guru, she has power over every aspect of the picture. As a true fan, of the persona, of your amazing blog(s) i feel like this is no longer my number one to look up to. I know, sound dramatic. But i know carine only through images, not personally. :-)

Wow! Sounds like more than one airbrushed photo has affected you, Maya. I really appreciate your kind words about the blog and i must say i am curious, who is your favorite now?

Dear Kellina, i am half French half Italian , my parents are from Paris and Naples. Both very sophisticated cities of art and (life)style. Once i've grown up i have noticed that French women have a very special and unique trait... They are way more self confident, and even when they grow elder this si still their precious trait (well, very often). Meanwile i see Italian women a so much concerned by they looks, the jewellery, fillers, gossip, versace high heels. I just find it, you know...
And so, when i saw that picture, of CR head attached to a 25 years model body... In America, where I currently live this is very commn, so I guess MAC executives had the last say. Her natural looks wouldn't convince American Consumers perhaps, but would be very perfect for many French, Germans etc... Mac is Estee Lauder sister company, EL's ads are just ultra photoshoped. They have a special department that takes care only by this aspect.
Just my humble opinion.
Hope no one will feel offended:-)

Dear Maya, thank you for your note! What an amazing heritage you have! And I assume you speak French, Italian, and English which of course makes me swoon with envy. I absolutely agree with your observation about French women in general, their confidence does increase with age where in most cultures it dwindles precipitously as the years roll by. Truly a remarkable trait that I wish was embraced around the world, so many women waste so much time, energy, and money fighting the aging process to no avail, often looking the worse for their efforts. Since this is not Carine's modus operandi, I think Estee Lauder is definitely the culprit. I am certainly not offended by your remarks, I appreciate you expressing your opinion very much.

Dear Kellina, thank you for answering me!:-)
Yes, corporate side must have taken the upper hand, i guess. Nevermind! We cherish Carine for different kind of qualities, i wish they could know that.
I love your blogs, your project is amazing!
Tantissimi saluti e bonne chance!

Maya, it's my pleasure! I admire you for expressing what may not be a popular opinion and agree with you utterly. That we cherish Carine just as she is at each stage in her life, that is the point, but often in life it is the important points that are overlooked. ;-)

Thank you very much for your sweet words about the blogs, so happy to know you are enjoying them! I do hope that you will keep motivating me with your refreshing comments.

Grazie e bisous
