CR Fashion Book Issue 3: Hope

The third issue of CR Fashion Book bears the theme I like best thus far — Hope — but the cover gives me very little of it… I infinitely prefer the teaser cover that was shown yesterday to either of the true covers, quelle horreur ! The image of the jeweled mask seen on the teaser is mysterious, alluring, glamorous, and, by virtue of the anonymity of the mask, appealing to every woman. The actual cover images feature Kim Kardashian by Karl Lagerfeld and Riccardo Tisci and Diogo De Castro Gomes, Saville Dorfman, and Emily Ratajkowski by Bruce Weber. Surely it would be a better joke if it were the other way around… I hardly feel this is collectible, I want that bejeweled masked teaser… Carine Roitfeld, please give us Hope...

"I want that bejeweled masked teaser… Carine Roitfeld, please give us Hope..."
Me too, I like Kim, they sell magazines, and now Carine has jumped on the band wagon, I am sure it will be an editorial treat but I am slightly disappointed. The cover is not the pretty face i like to see. Can we just move on from these Kardashian women.

Thanks for the backup, cca.! I don't like to express the unpopular opinion but it is my own, so happy we are in agreement on this.

:-)

Also, to clarify, I like the goldness of it very much...
4 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
how tacky! what a total downgrade. We should all make a sex tape and star on our own low class reality show and date someone who's famous for being a jerk. i dont like this at all
4 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbernie
Bernie, j'adore your eloquent reaction. You are right to question this example, and Carine is right in that she aims to cause a reaction. Can't wait to see your sex tape...

;-)

for what its worth......I deeply feel your pain.
no words.
4 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterhutch
Just a reminder, Carine put Paris Hilton on the cover of Paris Vogue last 2006 so be it.
4 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbernie
on second thought.....now the title of her book "IRREVERENT" has more meaning. Maybe the jokes on us and she is becomeing the new satirical satorialist. One can only HOPE.

Emmanuelle Alt's taste is suddenly looking very good right about now. Quelle horreur indeed !!

a pig is always a pig, even if you wrap them in gold.
4 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbernie
I usually think any magazine with Kim on the cover is for the brain dead. I hope I'm wrong. Please!
4 septembre 2013 | Unregistered CommenterRenee
thanks, hutch! there is some Hope then.

;-)
4 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Bristol, thanks for making me snort!
4 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Oh B! Or should I say, oh B-have! You are the funniest creature...
4 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Renee, I don't think you are wrong. I Hope you are, too, but I don't think you are. Make sense? No, it definitely doesn't...

:-D
4 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Seriously what kind of f*ckery is this?
5 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbernie
I Just hate Riccardo Tisci now. All this tackiness because of him.
The shots are beyond horrible and while i think the issue with Paris Hilton was chic and well done (don't forget Paris is a socialite and has connections with all the rich families who are connected to the Roitfeld), this is just horrible.
I'm sorry, i dont want to support this mess...as much i adore Carine and her work.
5 septembre 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLOLA
Carine is being cheeky monkey this time. (An elegant and incredibly chic one for sure.)
She's gone rouge after the plies.
I quite like it actually.
5 septembre 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHerakles
Herakles, I think this would make a perfect anthem for today: "She's gone rouge after the plies." Thank you for expressing yourself and so eloquently.
5 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
LOLA, you covered it beautifully, "connections... rich families... connected... Roitfeld." I don't really know Kim, beyond the surface "know" that pervades, and so I did my research. In looking at her photos, she is pretty but as Bernie mentions, what exactly is her talent? Portraying herself in a show about herself? Isn't that a talent we all have? What is the special quality? Incidentally, in researching her, I learned also that her father defended OJ Simpson. Carine succeeded with this cover in that she valued shock above all and she has certainly garnered a lot of talk. On a personal note, she has me obsessed with the idea of a full set of gold teeth of all things, très bizarre.

;-D

I LOVE THESE COMMENTS AND FRANKLY I HAVE NOT BOUGHT ANY CR SINCE ISSSUE

#1 ......

I LOVE CARINE BUT, BUT, UMM, ......TOO MUCH TO GO INTO RIGHT NOW .
5 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterpfkolyer
P. S. -
sorry folks, but I can not stand Bruce Weber! I get the male porno stuff, but he totally sucks at womens' fashion, in my opinion, i do see the artistic B. S. etc., but, please -C R - lose this loser, PLEASE!!!!!!
5 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterpfkolyer
Has Bernie somehow problems with opinions from people who simply do not match his?
It looks so.....

Cover: A little anti exactly Carine and style. I LIKE :)
6 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterfee
Paul, I love the comments as well, I am very happy Carine has everyone talking with this cover choice. I do Hope you will go into your reasons when you have a chance though. ;)
6 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Fee, it may be that Bernie's defense of that which he loves can become a little offensive, I think he feels pretty strongly in this particular case. Maybe too strongly? It is but a magazine cover after all, albeit one that many expect to treasure. For me, that's the beauty of Carine's judgement, she evoked very strong feelings in many readers with her decision. I am delighted to know that you like the cover, thanks for voicing your opinion!

:)

I just dont like these talentless and vicious Kartrashian family
6 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbernie
well, in a nut shell-

don't like cheap paper CR is printing on,

don't like Bruce Weber,

don't like the fact that some of the stories are not edited well enough, needs less fluff for more impact,

don't like all the fiction parading as artsy commentary - too much loses interest

don't like art direction.
10 septembre 2013 | Unregistered Commenterpfkolyer
Paul, thanks for expanding on your reasons, I can see your side. As for me, I must possess it, I have total FOMO (fear of missing out).

;-)
11 septembre 2013 | Registered Commenterkellina
Kellina I love the FOMO- that is what moves the needle and keeps the ball rollin' so to speak,
