Giovanna Battaglia In Vogue UK

Giovanna Battaglia and friends were the focus of an editorial titled "Dress Gangs" that appeared in the January 2006 issue of Vogue UK. The group, comprised of Giovanna, stylist Susan Bender, and fashion scout Camilla Al Fayed, was photographed by Mischa Richter. The three friends came together through their love of style, in particular they share a Christian Louboutin shoe fetish. Apparently they spend a lot of time in Camilla's well-stocked walk-in closet (not to be confused with her separate room devoted to bags and shoes) throwing dress-up parties that often turn into sleepovers. Sounds fabulous! Doesn't Gio look remarkably different with her hair straightened? Hard to believe but I think she may be even more gorgeous this way.

Giovanna Battaglia Illustration

The talented Judit García-Talavera has graciously permitted me to share with all of you her lovely illustration of Giovanna Battaglia. Below is a copy of the original photo upon which Judit based her illustration for comparison. I love especially the way that she captures Giovanna's eyes and that the only points of color are her dress and shoes. Be sure to visit Judit's web site to see more of her beautiful style of art.

Perfect Gifts For Roitfeld Fans: Toys

Giovanna Battaglia holds her new Kindle Electronics

Kindle Wireless Reading Device
According to her tweets, Giovanna Battaglia just got a Kindle and it is cool: "My Kindle, I love it!... Is going to be my travel friend..." It is the perfect gift this season for the fashionista that never stops.

Leica Camera
Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is quite the photographer, including a stint as Dazed and Confused's Fashion Week photo blogger last February. Julia shoots with a Leica camera.

Breville Juicer
Julia credits fresh apple, carrot, and ginger juice as the secret to her flawless skin, maybe someone on your gift list could use a little health kick? Chances are they'll be glowing!

Films
Here is a sampling of the family's favorites, they would be lovely as stocking stuffers:

Inglourious Basterds

Belle de Jour

Le Mépris

Meet the Parents

9 1/2 Weeks

Paris, Texas

Little Miss Sunshine

Music

The Verve Urban Hymns

Gorillaz Demon Days

Trainspotting: Music From The Motion Picture

Toys
This is an odd little category, mostly just fun things I want to share with you:

Christian Louboutin Cat Burglar Barbie doll

Lanvin dolls

Rei Kawakubo Barbie doll
This is the gift I'd want Carine to get, hopefully she would laugh as she loves Comme des Garçons and Rei: "It's my favorite show every season, it is really inspiring, Rei Kawakubo really does things differently from everybody else and she does not follow trends."

Kiki de Montparnasse
This is where Julia likes to shop for toys, bien sûr.

Giovanna Battaglia In Interview

Giovanna Battaglia appears in the December 2009/January 2010 issue of Interview and she looks ethereal in white lace by Dolce & Gabbana with her own over-the-knee boots by Christian Louboutin. The editorial is titled "Project Front Row" with Mikael Jansson shooting and Karla Martinez styling. The caption is in Giovanna's own words: "I see it, I want it, and I wear it without thinking about it too much. If I can't find the piece that's gratifying right away, I go through my wardrobe like a miner in search of the right gem." Other models included Camille Bidault-Waddington, Jessica Diehl, Anna Dello Russo, Trish Goff, Katie Grand, Daphne Guinness, Jefferson Hack, Anouck Lepère, Hidetoshi Nakata, Marc Newson, Lauren Santo Domingo, André Saraiva, Marie-Amélie Sauvé, L'wren Scott, Tabitha Simmons, Charlotte Stockdale, Lara Stone, Stefano Tonchi, Natalia Vodianova, Olivier Zahm, and Dasha Zhukova. I look forward to seeing the rest of this interesting concept.
