Cool Carine In Cannes

Carine Roitfeld's chic appearance at Cannes in sleek black Balmain has inspired momentum mode to create a superb new drawing. I love how she has captured Carine's essence in charcoal, the perfect medium to convey her indubitable edge. A thousand thanks for sharing your talent with all of us, momentum mode!

Vogue Paris June/July 2010: Kate Moss

Carine Roitfeld chose favorite Kate Moss for the June/July issue of Vogue Paris and though we have only a partial view it is gorgeous. Look at those red lips! Photographed by Mario Sorrenti, I will of course upgrade the image as soon as possible to give you the full picture. [Editor's note: Done! And what a picture it is!] Veronica Webb is featured in "Une Fille Un Style" and among the editorials are "Collection privée" styled by La Roitfeld with Freja Beha Erichsen and Lara Stone (Walliams) shot by Terry Richardson; "Coup de foudre" with styling by Riccardo Tisci, photography by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and assorted models including Ciara and Daphnee; "L'heure bleue" with Anastasia Barbieri styling, Isabeli Fontana modeling, Michael Jansson shooting; and two editorials styled by Emmanuelle Alt: "Et Dieu créa le soleil" (the cover ed) and "Girl Meets Boy" with David Sims photographing Raquel Zimmerman. I can feel the heat of the sun already...

Roitfeld And Dello Russo: Whole Lotta Leopard

This sexy photograph of Carine Roitfeld and Anna Dello Russo at Cannes in 2009 comes to us courtesy of Anna's web site. Anna says of Carine and her style: "Carine m'a toujours fasciné: sa façon de marcher, de poser, de parler... inusuel, féminin, sexy. Le tout exprimé par sa manière incroyable de s'habiller." or in English: "Carine has always fascinated me: her fashion of walking, posing, talking... unusual, feminine, sexy. All expressed by her incredible manner of dressing." I especially like the surreal artwork poised directly above Carine's head, it lends the whole scene a nice edge. I wonder if the artist conjured this work as the perfect counterpoint to a room swirling with leopard clad lovelies.

I Want To Be A Roitfeld: Year One

Today I Want To Be A Roitfeld celebrates one year chronicling the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, and her two children, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld. When fortune smiles, we also check in with their best loveds: Christian Restoin (father of Jewels and Vladi), Robert Konjic, and Giovanna Battaglia. It has certainly been an amazing year and I would like to wholeheartedly thank you for reading along. I especially adore each of you for every single comment that you leave, you keep me motivated to continue investing myself to discover the best of the Roitfeld family for all of us.

The media mentions or links to the blog are also powerful incentives. Though they were numerous, I have compiled a list of my favorites of the year:

Sundance Channel, "French Vogue: Celebrating Ninety Years," 7 October 2009
Italian Elle, "Robert Konjic," 13 October 2009
V Magazine, "Blasberg's Best of 2009: Part One," 21 December 2009
Huffington Post, "Celebrity as Avatar," 19 January 2010
New York Magazine, "Les Enfants Are All Right," 14 February 2010
Vogue Brazil, "Quero ser um Roitfeld," 1 March 2010
Vogue Germany, "Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld: Jungstar der Kunstszene," 1 March 2010
The Guardian, "The Measure," 13 March 2010
Gala.de, "Mode Jetset: Die Macht der Coolness," 30 March 2010
ZEIT Online, "Vogue-Chefin Carine Roitfeld: Madame Rock'n'Roll," 3 April 2010
Das Magazin, "Die Patin," 10 April 2010

Finally a very special thank you to my delightful beau, Michael, who constantly encourages this endeavor, buoys my spirits, and comments when no one else dares. Je t'aime, mtm.

Now I would like to hear from you, what are your favorite Roitfeld moments over the last year? Which fashion choices stand out? When you think back, which Vogue Paris editorials come to mind? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments, today is Roitfeld Day and anything goes! Thanks a million for reading my blog—you are the best.
