The Roitfelds In Cannes: She's A Rainbow

The Rolling Stones seem to set the tone for the festivities in southern France of late, so let's wrap up the 63rd Cannes Film Festival with a colorful collage of photos of the Roitfeld family and friends to the tune of "She's A Rainbow":

Have you seen her all in gold
Like a queen in days of old

She shoots colors all around

Like a sunset going down

Have you seen the lady fairer

She comes in colors everywhere;

She combs her hair

She's like a rainbow

Coming colors in the air

Oh, everywhere

She comes in colors

The Roitfelds At Style Star Night Party

Style Star Night brings together the crème de la crème of fashion and cinema for one exclusive gala event each year at Cannes. This year the dinner was hosted by Stefano Tonchi, editor of W Magazine, and Marina Garzoni, executive director of Style Star, at the lounge on Carlton Beach. Carine Roitfeld is hot in Roberto Cavalli and Giovanna Battaglia looks regal dressed in Derek Lam. The guests of honor for the fashionable fête were Juliette Binoche and Elio Germano, voted Best Actress and Best Actor for this year's festival; other notable guests included Tolula Adeyemi, Gerard Butler, Eva Cavalli, Kenneth Cole, Peter Dundas, Lady Victoria Hervey, Eva Riccobono, Riccardo Tisci, Ellen von Unwerth, and Jesse Williams.

Battaglia, Dolce, Gabbana In Cannes

Thanks to the Twitter accounts of Giampaolo Sgura and Stefano Gabbana we have a fun glimpse into the spirit of Cannes—this visual story of the witty improvisation of D&G and their favorite muse, Giovanna Battaglia. First we see Gio above, dressed to go out but lacking that special something. Her headdress is not quite right...

Dolce & Gabbana come to her rescue by fashioning this impromptu leopard turban, the perfect finishing touch. Without the previous sparkling head piece Gio is now inspired to choose a bold necklace and pull down a couple of tendrils, c'est parfait !

I cannot imagine a chicer trio! Giovanna Battaglia, Stefano Gabbana, and Domenico Dolce look as if they are about to walk on to the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's just in time for the cocktail party in Audrey's flat, quelle élégance.

They are actually en route to Naomi Campbell's 40th birthday party. Clearly I am not the only one attracted to the trio, the paparazzi is mad for them. Also, notice that in the shots above Gio is posed in front of the leopard den where Carine and Anna were reclining in the recent post Roitfeld And Dello Russo: Whole Lotta Leopard. Too cool...

Vogue Paris Translation: Editorial, May 2010

Carine Roitfeld sets the stage for each issue of Vogue Paris in the editorial that she pens, highlighting those featured in its pages in her charming manner. Here I have translated from French to English Carine's editorial for Vogue Paris May 2010 with Penélope Cruz serving as guest editor:

A guest editor, this is not really a first for Vogue, since each Christmas issue is driven by a celebrity. Incidentally, these special issues are among the most popular with our readers. For a long time we have wanted to work with Pénelope Cruz. Is it necessary to explain why? An Oscar-winning Spanish actress with a breathtaking pedigree — Pedro Almodovar, Woody Allen, Stephen Frears and soon a "Pirate of the Caribbean," an inflammable temperament, a private life like a safe... her capacity for attraction is colossal. Her investment as well. For the cover, Penélope Cruz wished to ask some of her Hollywood colleagues together with Bono to spotlight the work of (RED) which works to finance the fight against AIDS in Africa. Contains also: a meeting with two stars of the Royal Ballet, Vanessa Paradis in China, a conversation between two compatriots, Ferran Adrià, culinary genius at the head of E. Bulli, and Valentin Fuster, star among cardiologists, a portrait of Crystal Renn, top model of unpublished proportions, without forgetting a conversation between Pedro Almodóvar and Jeanne Moreau. "To speak about me," said Penélope Cruz, "is to put forward the people that I admire." A great politesse, an elegant way to preserve all of her mystery.

The Roitfelds At Cinema Against AIDS Gala

The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden Roc is one of the most prestigious parties at Cannes each year. Carine Roitfeld often chairs this special charity event that benefits the research of AIDS; the honors for this year's gala go to Alan Cumming. Among the numerous luminaries on hand to support amfAR were Carine Roitfeld, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld (wearing Mark Fast), Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia (wearing Armani Privé), Giorgio Armani, Mischa Barton, Kate Beckinsale, Malgosia Bela, Rachel Bilson, Fan Bingbing, Naomi Campbell, Roberto Cavalli, Georgina Chapman, Kenneth Cole (chair of amfAR), Marion Cotillard, Russell Crowe, Benicio Del Toro, Peter Dundas, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Ford, Fawaz Gruosi, Dree Hemingway, Constance Jablonski, Mick Jagger, Grace Jones, Karolina Kurkova, Diane Kruger, Karl Lagerfeld, Margherita Missoni, Eugenie Niarchos, L'Wren Scott, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Michelle Williams. Apparently it was another fabulous party provoking Giovanna Battaglia to remark, "AmfAR was so much fun!! The best I ever been... Mary J. Blige and Patti Smith were fantastic."
