Classy By Derek Blasberg

In honor of Derek Blasberg's book Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady releasing today, I am devoting the front page to him. I will eventually include him in the Favorites section but for now let's celebrate his first book. This witty and seemingly omniscient fashion writer hails from St. Louis, Missouri, and though he claims that his own mother does not know Carine Roitfeld, Blasberg himself certainly does and can often be seen partying with her, Julia, and Vladimir. He now lives in New York City with his miniature dachshund, Monster. I have read that he would love to have a stalker and I wish I had the time to fulfill his wish. Alas, I have not so in lieu I would like to offer this fun little collage of highlights featuring Monsieur Blasberg in assorted compromising positions. Congratulations on your new book, Derek! I cannot wait to read it and I hope that it is the first of many. Also consider taking Blasberg's quiz to measure your classy quotient.

Kate, I can't wait to compare notes with you! I noticed that Derek has a chapter on dressing right for your shape and thought of your blog.

What I don't understand: the girls he is referring to are far from being classy: Lauren Santo Domingo classy? No. White trash who married rich. Not to mention her coke abuse... Margherita Maccapani (Missoni) classy? She is slut and is total embarrassing as soon as she opens her mouth... Or Birdie Bell? At least she is nice and cute, but she has just spent some time in Israel in "Big Brother"... Sorry, but that is SO not classy. Great references, thanks Derek!

Wow, Fredo, welcome to the party! As you can see, I sort of focus on the Roitfelds. I consider the women that you name part of their circle but I know nothing about them. Tell us everything... Then I will tell you what I believe.

"White trash" is quite possibly the best, and by that I mean funniest, label to come out of America. Sadly this British woman in Paris doesn't get to use it often. Thanks for the evening humour!

The vast majority of these women are an embarrassment to themselves and their so-called fans. Julia on the other hand is nothing short of fabulous!

Milla, I am glad that you got a kick out of it! Yes, I must credit Monsieur Blasberg for at least attempting to right the wrong which is so much of what America takes for granted in the way of role models. Go, Derek!
