Vogue Paris August 2009: Daria Werbowy

Hmmm, does Carine Roitfeld have a new favorite model? Daria Werbowy is featured on the cover of Vogue Paris for August 2009 and appeared on the May cover as well. They used the same photographers again, too, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The theme is decidedly Burberry and it sounds like a fun issue. Inside are editorials such as "Call Me!" inspired by Blondie's style and "French On Top" featuring six models native to France. Subscribers will receive a special bonus DVD, "Vogue Backstage: In the steps of a famous makeup artist, Peter Philips in 80 days"; sneak a peek at the video on vogue.fr.

Carine Roitfeld At Hugo Boss

Carine Roitfeld looks so perfectly badass at the Hugo Boss Spring/Summer 2010 show. What she's wearing seems so simple, even casual, until you add the vintage César pendant and fasten it all helter skelter rather than traditionally. Slap on the chic shades, project that bemused nonchalance, et voilà !

Carine Roitfeld On Avenue Montaigne

I have never seen a photograph as beautiful as this one by Monochrome Magazine of Carine Roitfeld strolling the Avenue Montaigne. She has such presence that her colored form seems to be alive in the midst of this monochromatic metropolis. Even though her back is to the camera, she appears to exist outside of the one dimension in which she is captured here. Phew, I will return to this image again and again for inspiration. And wait until you see who is playing footsy with Vladimir...

Carine Roitfeld On Martin Margiela

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the house of Martin Margiela, Rizzoli is publishing a decadent hardcover tome with over 400 color photographs of the work of this elusive fashion genius. Carine Roitfeld and other fashion luminaries have written essays for the new book titled Maison Martin Margiela, debuting in October 2009. This beautiful gem offers a rare glimpse into the creative process of the famously secretive designer. The clever cover—white cotton, embroidered— is a tribute to Margiela's calling card: the telltale tag that is anonymously attached to every piece his house produces, distinguished by its lack of distinguishment. Luxurious paper, silver ink, twelve! ribbon bookmarks (probably still not enough), and hundreds of photos from Margiela's personal collection make this a page turner for fashionistas everywhere. Other essayists include Susannah Frankel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Vanessa Beecroft, Andree Putman, Chris Decron, Didier Grumbach, Vincent Wierink, Sonia Rachline, Olivier Saillard, and Lele Acquarone.

The Roitfelds at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Men's Fashion Week is upon us once again. Here Carine Roitfeld and daughter Julia can be seen texting away while taking a little break for fresh air and sunlight between viewing the Spring/Summer 2010 collections for Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton. I am in love with Carine's shoes and the recycled denim skirt.
