Carine Roitfeld: VMAN Calendar

In February, Carine Roitfeld served as guest editor for VMAN Magazine and I am sorry it has taken so long for me to get around to discussing it. In addition to styling the editorials for the magazine, Carine created a 2012 calendar of Victoria's Secret models that was every bit as sexy as her infamous Vogue Paris calendars. I want to applaud Carine for effectively taking up the slack of her successor at Vogue Paris, Emmanuelle Alt, who denied readers the pleasure of the annual calendar this year as well as the beloved concept of a guest editor with her December issue.

In case you missed it, I have added Carine's VMAN calendar to the archive, featuring models Doutzen Kroes, Joan Smalls, Lily Donaldson, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Izabel Goulart, Candice Swanepoel, Ana Beatriz Barros, Alessandria Ambrosio, Anne Vyalitsyna, Chanel Iman, and Karolina Kurkova as photographed by Willy Vanderperre.

I would also like to take this opportunity to look back at a few of the calendars produced by Carine during her reign at Vogue Paris, including my personal favorite, the imaginative 2008 VP calendar which has hung in a spot of honor on my wall since December of 2007 when it arrived with the Charlotte Gainsbourg issue.

Carine Roitfeld X M.A.C.

According to Vogue Brazil, Carine Roitfeld and M.A.C. will release a collection of twenty products for Winter 2012. Best of all, several of the products focus on the eyes and brows, designed especially to enable all of us to recreate La Roitfeld's iconic smoky eye, oooo la la ! Carine is pictured here in the first image from the campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti. If you look closely, you can see the Good Luck Star from the collection, a star shaped stencil just beneath Carine's eye.

Carine Roitfeld: The Magazine

The perfect antidote to Monday morning: Carine Roitfeld has finally released concrete evidence of her new biannual magazine, set to launch this September. The magazine will be titled simply CR, just as she signed each of her editorials for Vogue Paris. “The name’s not a big surprise, but oh well,” Carine said to WWD. "[It's a] celebration of fashion and creativity… I’m in the middle of searching for new talents, and it’s so exciting and energizing… I hope people will want to keep it — trendy and timeless at the same time.” CR will be published by Stephen Gan and Fashion Media Group LLC and is priced at $9.95. The theme for Carine's first issue is "obsession" and the cover model is Kati Nescher as shot by Sebastian Faena. Another lovely interior spread features Patti Smith as photographed by Bruce Weber. Counting the days until the first issue is in my hands…
