Carine Roitfeld By Olivier Zahm

Olivier Zahm caught Carine Roitfeld looking incredibly hot at Le Bar du Crillon in Paris last night. I love that he captured Carine in black and white while she was seated at the bar, I adore the setting, her expression, the atmosphere, but especially those boots! If you know the designer, I would be most grateful if you would share this information. Below she is pictured with Juliette Greco, clearly poised for an evening of revelry. And those boots!

Young Carine Roitfeld

The Huffington Post challenges readers to identify a few famous fashion faces from photos taken in their younger days and clearly we all know the one pictured above is Carine Roitfeld. It is fun to flash back to a different time, and for some fashion icons, an entirely different look! Personally I would love to see more photographs from Carine's childhood but this is the only one I have been able to find anywhere. Oops, other than this little one taken in St. Tropez, that is... Can anyone help?

Giovanna Battaglia's Style

In looking through my collection of photographs of Giovanna Battaglia, I simply must share a few of them with you. I began composing the shots pictured here with the idea that I would talk to you about how Gio excels at combining a single piece with others to invent completely different looks as with the purple skirt and the shirt dress...

Then I was gripped by Giovanna's inimitable sense of color and I began having difficulty being an editor — how to choose the very best among so many dynamic looks? It confounds me every time, she uses color so simply and so correctly it seems natural that we would all do it. Yet this trait is soooo Gio! That's why I included the shot below with the yellow heel and the green coat, rather than giving in to my preference to show her stunning reuse of the pink and green Prada shoes. With that yellow heel, I would never think of the bright green jacket mais, bien sûr... Giovanna Battaglia, I salute your style.

Roitfeld In Les Filles En Vogue

The June/July issue of Vogue Paris includes a special DVD for lucky French readers titled Les filles en Vogue and Carine Roitfeld appears throughout, discussing the five top models profiled in the documentary. Les filles en Vogue captures the lives of Freja Beha Erichsen, Constance Jablonski, Sessilee Lopez, Sasha Pivovarova, and Natasha Poly amid the intensity of Fashion Week in Paris — hair, makeup, fittings, late nights, and more backstage footage. Visit the Vogue Paris web site to view a six minute preview of Les filles en Vogue including several bits with Carine. I love her entirely grey outfit pictured above, particularly her pewter talons, against the perfect backdrop of her immaculate office.

Roitfeld Honors Sir Karl Lagerfeld

Carine Roitfeld celebrated with Karl Lagerfeld as he was awarded the Commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur, one of France's most prestigious honors, by President Nicolas Sarkozy this week. The medal itself is a unique piece created in enamel and gems by the Chanel jewelry workshops and the French Mint in order to surprise Lagerfeld.

Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni hosted the garden party on the grounds of the Palais de l'Élysée; among the VIPs on the guest list were Delphine Arnault, Stephen Gan, Amanda Harlech, Suzy Menkes, Peter Phillips, Franca Sozzani, Sidney Toledano, and the Wertheimer family.

Notable quotes overheard during the party: Lagerfeld deflects an acceptance speech cattily with "I am much better at making small talk than at giving speeches," and President Sarkozy finds common ground in their similar energy levels when he remarks to the designer "Frankly, I really enjoy your company because next to you, I feel calm, quiet, and a bit of a drudge.”
